Hot off today’s headlines! NICE have said that Women with low-risk pregnancies are to be encouraged to have non-hospital births under new NHS guidelines, which could see almost half of mothers-to-be planning to deliver their baby away from traditional labour wards. This is wonderful news for midwives, women and even doctors who are working in over stretched, busy labour wards. As a midwife who works in a case-loading team and is able to offer all our women the choice where to birth their baby, this new guideline could not be more welcomed.
